David Phillips talks about furniture trends

Can you explain who you are and why you’re working with Lendlease. 

My name is Sam Collins and I’m one of the Sales Directors here at David Phillips Group. 1998, David Phillips pioneered interior design services for property professionals and since then, landlords, agents, developers and private individuals have trusted us to professionally design and furnish their properties. We first partnered with Lendlease back in 2013 for the launch of Trafalgar Place, Elephant & Castle, providing furniture packages for the new residents. Seven years later and we are proud to continue our support of Lendlease and its customers across the UK with our ever-evolving range of industry leading product, design and services.

Can you tell us a little bit about the process behind deciding what goes into a furniture package? 

Every package put together at David Phillips is tailored to each specific layout, meaning each is unique in its own way. Design, quality and value are the three things that we consider when curating a furniture package. Balancing design and quality into a furniture package is not easy, but luckily, we are experts at doing so! By studying each floorplan in detail, understanding the development and our customers' requirements, we make the package creation process easy.

What packages do customers tend to like the most, i.e. do people like the more classic or trendy pieces, can you explain how they differ?

We see the largest number of enquiries come through about our ‘Trend’ package, which looks to incorporate current design trends and colours as the key feature. Through the trend package, we can capture the latest fashions from the interior design world and create affordable, accessible furniture packages for our customers. We have exclusive products in our range that differ from the high street, both in terms of design and durability, so we are always proud to consult on the difference of our product and service. 

What piece in any of the furniture packs do you think gives off the beautiful show home look and feel the most?

There will always be varied answers for this, but it’s the curtains that create the show home look for me! Window treatments are usually an aspect of our service that customers forget to consider before speaking with us, so it’s always great to discuss and show our wide range of options . Adding in a luxurious set of curtains to a property can really make all the difference – not to mention helping with better sleep! 

What advice do you have for people who might not know what style would best fit their home at Deptford Landings?

From an interior design perspective, always consider the existing fixtures and fittings in your apartment before making decisions on the furnishings. Design tips aside, comfort and practicality are always key – especially with most of us spending more time at home.

How does your service consider the increased demand for home working spaces?

We have seen a huge spike in enquiries over the past 6 months for home working furniture. We are pleased to now offer a wide range of desks, office chairs, storage, lighting, sofa beds and lounge chairs that can all be included within our packages or bought separately. We have even brought in a range of office chairs with Lombard support to ensure healthy posture at home.

What are the key points you would like our readers to know about your service?

Save time – working with a trusted partner of Lendlease has its benefits! We can access your new home to take measurements pre-completion, meaning installation of measured to fit blinds, curtains and furniture can be done within a matter of days. This hugely reduces delays at the handover stage and can allow residents to move in quickly and easily. (Takes out the stress of picking individual pieces of furniture and waiting for them all to arrive.

Safety – our team take safety extremely seriously. Our installation team are provided with PPE, face masks and sanitising equipment every morning and will respect the safety measures set out on each development we are working on. This is to ensure that our customers are comfortable and reassured that we are taking all the right measures to get them safely.
