The Thames path on our doorstep
The famous Thames Path walk is a whopping 79.5 miles (128km) that starts in Richmond and stretches all the way past the Thames Barrier to the river Darent in Dartford.
That might be a bit much for some so our much smaller, 11-mile (17.5km) stretch through Deptford might be just a bit more manageable for your legs.
Officially the Third Section (South) of the Thames Path, the route starts at Tower bridge and meanders all the way along the river, through Deptford, past Greenwich and the O2, and then finish at the Thames Barrier near Charlton.
Being in Deptford we’re just a little bit biased about the area, but it’s hard to argue that this section of the Thames Path connects some of the most evocative and historic places, including the World Heritage Site at Greenwich.
Still not enough? For those that are brave you can then walk the final section from the Thames Barrier to the River Darent – although don’t forget that you have to make it back again.
